About

Italian-American accordionist (born October 22, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois - died January 1981 in Los Angeles, California)

Guidotti learned accordion as a child. In March 1928, he made his first four solo recordings with Gennett, but they were not issued. In the early 1930s, he joined the Frank and Milt Britton Comedy Band and appears with this band in a 1935 Rudy Vallée movie, "Sweet Music".

In 1938, Guidotti founded his own 5-piece accordion band, Tito & His Swingtette. The band landed its own show on NBC and made guest appearances on the radio with Paul Whiteman and Benny Goodman. This led to a November 1938 recording session in the RCA Victor studios and four songs that were released on its budget label, Bluebird (3).

During World War II, Guidotti performed on USO tours of the Pacific front with singer Betty Hutton and comedian Joe E. Brown.

After the war, he and his wife Sylvia moved to Los Angeles where they opened an accordion studio.
