    Tokischa Altagracia Peralta (born 17 March 1996) aka Tokischa, is a Dominican rapper and singer-songwriter from San Felipe de Puerto Plata active since 2018 and based in Miami. Also nicknamed "María Juana" and “Trapterrestre”. After working as a model for photographer Raymi Paulus in 2016, she was asked to enter the music industry. She signed a recording contract with Paulus Music and released her debut single "Pícala" to great regional success in 2018. Her lyrics and public image have often been catalogued as "controversial" yet "liberating" by international media outlets, sparking controversy and receiving widespread media coverage.
