Toni Valen

Toni Valen is a musician and artist from Tilburg. In the early 1980s he gathered a band around him. In 1982 and 1983 a number of songs were recorded in the Pink Noise Studio in Eindhoven. 'Zelda' eventually appeared in 1984 on the self-managed label Oktavio.!! The 12 songs on the album are clearly influenced by the new wave movements of the time, including the soaring synthesizer sound. Sometimes the Dutch songs also sound quite poppy and I am reminded of Doe Maar, partly because of the vocals and background choirs. Perhaps not coincidentally, because later I read in an interview that frontman Toni van Valen (as he is actually called) was a musical acquaintance of Henny Vrienten.
