Married to musician/composer William Grant Still (1939-1978, his death).
She is best known for her musical collaborations with her husband. As a writer, Verna Arvey contributed articles to numerous music magazines and authored the book "Choreographic Music" and the biographical book, "In One Lifetime".
She was a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and others.
