About

is a rock band formed in 2004 in Caracas, Venezuela. It is integrated by Rodrigo Gonsalves, Adrián Salas, Juan V. Belisario and Orlando Martínez. It is recognized by the strong presence of its sound live and in studio, having the distinction of having two bass players in the training.

They started as a trio of Power Pop that at that time was called 'Vinilo', formed by Rodrigo Gonsalves (Guitar and voice), Adrián Salas (bass and guitar), and Orlando Martínez (drums). After a while they had the idea of doing something original in the band, and it occurred to them to have two basses, one that followed the patterns of a common bassist and another bass with distortion. With this enters in 2005 Hector Besson as a bassist. Both bass players played with their fingers, but nowadays they both play with straw (Adrián Salas and Juan V. Belisario).

They were winners of the popular New Bands Festival in 2006, receiving good reviews from the public and specialized media. The following months saw their popularity increase thanks to the constant agenda of presentations at venues and places of events that the band had at the same time they were preparing the repertoire of what would be their first album.

In 2007 they released their first videoclip, Directo al Grano. Later that same year Hector Besson (bassist) left the band and was replaced by Iñaki Salvatierra.

In March of 2008 the band visits for the first time Spain, appearing in Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona. During their stay in that country they recorded the video of the song Cocaína and their album El Día es Hoy was digitally released on iTunes Europe. This album, produced by Rudy Pagliuca, was released in physics in June of that same year.

In April of that same year, Iñaki (bassist) left the band, and at the end of that same month they included Juan V. Belisario in the band's formation as second bassist and choirs (later becoming the lead bassist). On October 10, 2008, they performed for the first time at the Poliedro de Caracas as opening acts for the Nine Inch Nails concert on their Lights in the Sky Tour. This presentation helps them to consolidate as one of the bands with the greatest projection in the country.

In 2009 they would return to visit abroad, the United States being the destination this time. On this occasion, they shared the stage in Los Angeles with the Argentinean band Babasónicos and then participated in the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. They finally finish the tour in South Beach, Florida. Several concerts, including his presentation in the festival By the Middle of the Street in front of more than six thousand people, and the participation in the CD of Amnesty International Lift your Voice were some of the most outstanding acts in that year.

In December he released his second album, Si No Us Mata, this time only in digital format. The physical edition was released in May 2010. In March 2010, they performed together with Famasloop in the amphitheater of Sambil, opening for Franz Ferdinand. On May 26, 2010, they play for all of Venezuela, from Hard Rock Café Caracas, through La Mega 107.3 FM. Later that day, it would be the showcase of his second album, Si No Us Mata, in Le Club (produced again by Rudy Pagliuca).

The album was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2010 in the category of Best Rock Album, losing against Fuerza Natural by Gustavo Cerati. In September 2011 they toured Colombia, with eight concerts in Bogotá, between the 13th and the 21st of that month, and ending the tour in Medellin, on September 21st.

After releasing the first single Yunque, their third album Cambio de Nombre, appears in June of 2012. In this album you can notice a sound a little heavier and with more distortion (this only in some songs), getting closer to a sound Post-Grunge, and you can also notice a darker sound. On July 10, 2012, the album was briefly in # 1 of the best selling albums of Venezuela on ITunes, surpassing bands such as Metallica, Pink Floyd and Maroon 5.

Cambio de Nombre was nominated for two categories at the 2012 Latin Grammy Awards, "Best Rock Album" and "Best Packaging." Held in Las Vegas on November 8, VINILOVERSUS wins its first Grammy award, in the "Best Pack" category, designed by Miguel Vasquez.
