American composer and music theorist. After graduation from the Massachusetts School Of Art in 1914, his interest shifted from painting to music. In 1924, upon graduating from Harvard, he went abroad to study with Nadia Boulanger. He was Professor Of Music at Harvard and lived in Belmont, Massachusetts.
