Weltuntergangsmaschine

Weltuntergangsmaschine (Doomsday Device) a.k.a W.U.M. was a Crustpunk Band from the Area around Offenburg and Freiburg in South West Germany. They formed in 2005 and the first stuff sounded between Discharge and E.N.T. with Grindcore parts and dual vocals. The line-up was Mark - guitar, Stefan - bass, Seb - drums and Philipp and Ralph on vocals. In 2009 Stefan switched to 2nd guitar and Marco joined on bass. They had a set of own songs and covers of Cress and Hellkrusher. Later the sound added some Neo-Crust and a bit Black Metal. From day one an uncompromising DIY attitude destined their work and all stage probs, merchandise and so on where created by them selves. A political radical Anarchist mindset was also part of their agenda. During their early shows they've worn some kind of Neo Barbarian costumes and a show with fire sticks was also part of their gigs. Lyrically they themed political and social topics together with a focus on the world downfall and a nuclear devastation which turned their stage costumes later into a post-apocalyptic outfit. They played a lot of shows including several benefit gigs and some shorter tours as through Eastern Germany with their blood brothers Hellborn Messiah and Italy on their own. W.U.M. recorded a Demo Mini-CD limited to maybe 100 units and two songs and videos on the "Local Underground 2" compilation. There were plans of a split LP with their friends Thought Assault, but then the band called it a day in 2010 after their drummer Seb left. There was one single show in 2017 especially for the 40th anniversary of the youth center "Kessel" in Offenburg, where they all where socialized. Some members then played in bands such as Lysis, Sending All Processes The Kill Signal or Monuments To Misery.
