Born April 7, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Died January 19, 2014 in Palm Desert, California.

For the prolific lyricist and composer use Alan Jay Lerner.

He played with Harry James in the early 1940s. After that band disbanded he worked as musical director for Dick Haymes for thirteen years. Lerner was the last surviving member of the original Harry James Orchestra.
He often collaborated with Victor Corpora.
