Alejandro Marcovich Padlog (Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 3, 1960) is a Mexican guitarist, singer, composer, arranger and producer, of Argentine origin. Brother of the film director Carlos Marcovich.
On April 1, 1976, Alejandro Marcovich, in company of his parents and brothers, left Argentina and went into exile in Mexico.
He studied physics at UNAM and music at the National School of Music (UNAM) and at the Superior School of Music (INBA), as well as at the School of Music of the BUAP (formerly Department of Music) and at the jazz workshop of the Superior School of Music (INBA). He took jazz workshops in the United States with Joe Diorio and with Jim Hall.
He has been a founder and member of groups such as: Leviatán, Las insólitas imágenes de aurora and Caifanes. In all of them he has done one or more of the following tasks: lead guitarist, arranger, author, co-author, producer, co-producer and singer.
He has also worked as a producer and arranger of artists and groups such as Santa Sabina, Los Lagartos, Los Estrambóticos, Malena Duran, Rita Guerrero, Caifanes, El Círculo, Pink Punk, Yucatán A Go-Go, Las Ultrasónicas, Enter, Lady Bombon, Juan Y La Bruja and Ranarex. He has also been invited to record the guitar on the albums of artists such as: Gerardo Enciso, Celso Piña, Kenny Y Los Electricos, Radio Kaos, Dr. Fanatik, Leonardo De Lozanne, Los Lagartos, Los Estrambóticos, Pink Punk, Las Ultrasónicas, El Círculo, Mario Domm, Enter, Los Amantes De Lola, La Casta, Ranarex, [a4487359], Mishel Domenssain, Banda Maguey, Banda Mach and La Firma. He has composed music for films like: "¿Quién diablos es Juliette?", "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" and "¿Cómo no te voy a querer?".
Since 1995, besides playing concerts and producing records, he devotes part of his time to teaching music, giving clinics, workshops and master classes for guitarists and groups, as well as harmony and improvisation workshops in Mexico, United States United and Spain. He also performs as a soloist doing pure improvisation with electric guitar and pedal loops. To date he has taken his music to the following countries: Mexico, United States, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Panama and Honduras.
Alejandro Marcovich was the one who popularized the accessory for electric guitar EBow in Mexico and throughout Latin America, creating incredible atmospheres in his songs. A very good example is the song "La Llorona", from the album [m248121], where he makes an incredible solo with a dark atmosphere, recording several channels with that accessory and creating a chilling and vibrant performance. He also used it in the single ending of "Miedo", from the same album, and in many other songs, such as "Alfombra Mágica" from the album [r10288044].
