    American songwriter, born 12 March 1905 in Brooklyn, USA, died 14 January 1966 in Los Angeles, USA.


    Most prolific songwriter, began his career in 1935 by writing for musicals. In 1944 he teamed up with Doris Fisher and together they penned a string of songs, o.a.: "You Always Hurt the One You Love", "Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall" and "That Ole Devil Called Love". After Doris stepped back in 1947, he collaborated with Lester Lee and wrote for Broadway shows. Together with Robert Allen he co-wrote the hit song "To Know You (Is To Love You)".
    He died in a hospital after a heart attack, age 61.
