Their release "Get Down" (1999) used a sample from "D.I.S.C.O." originally performed by Ottawan The name 'Avant Garde' is derivated from Daniel Vangarde AKA Daniel Bangalter, producer and composer for Ottawan, but also the father of Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk. Their second single, "Dont' Stop" (2001), used a sample from "Let's Groove" performed by [a=Earth Wind & Fire].
