Born 3 February 1906 in London, England.
Died 9 April 1999 (aged 93) in England.
Firman came from a family of musicians and took up the violin at an early age, winning a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music.
Worked as musical director for Zonophone Records in the 1920s.
Firman was the first British bandleader to broadcast in America in 1929 on NBC.
