Vice President of Apollo Records (2) and owner of Doe Records, Charles Merenstein is nowadays best remembered for having penned, along with Otis Blackwell and Jimmy Jones, "Handy Man", a hit for Jones in 1959 and later covered by Del Shannon and James Taylor. Son-in-law of Bessie (Merenstein) Berman, co-founder of Apollo Records (2) and newphew of record producer Lewis Merenstein.
