Churchill's

Churchill's or Churchills (הצ'רצ'ילים or Hacherchilim in Hebrew) were a psychedelic and hard rock band from Tel Aviv in Israel, active from 1965 until 1973, in 2015, and from 2018 to 2020. Their name was a nickname given to original guitarist Yitzhak Klepter, whose appearance reminded the other band members of a young Winston Churchill. In Hebrew they were הצ'רצ'ילים, literally The Churchills.

When they relocated to England and signed with a British label The Churchills (as they were also known) temporarily changed the name to Jericho Jones as it was feared an Israeli band calling themselves Churchill's would not be appreciated. The original Israeli release and some reissues of their second album give the name of the band as Jericho Jones in English and הצ'רצ'ילים in Hebrew. The name was shortened to Jericho for their third album. They also backed Arik Einstein on 4 of his albums released between 1969 and 1971.

After returning to Israel in 1972 they returned to the original name and, after some personnel changes, they became The New Churchills before disbanding. The four surviving members from the 1970-1972 lineup reunited for two concerts in 2015 which resulted in a new double live album. On 2020-02-03 they released their first new studio recording since 1972, the single Messianic Times.
