Cloud Nothings

Cloud Nothings are an American indie rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, formed in 2009 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Baldi. Beginning as a bedroom pop project with lo-fi hooks and melodic charm, they underwent a dramatic transformation with their second album — emerging as one of the most viscerally intense guitar acts of the 2010s.

Attack On Memory (2012), produced by Steve Albini, was the turning point: a record of fierce, churning post-punk and noise rock that discarded Baldi's earlier twee tendencies in favour of raw urgency. Here And Nowhere Else (2014) refined the approach, with Baldi's band — drummer Jayson Gerycz's motorik playing being particularly central — delivering tight, propulsive rock built for physical response.

Life Without Sound (2017) introduced more melodic and atmospheric elements, showing Baldi's range as a songwriter without abandoning the core intensity. The Black Hole Understands (2020) and Final Summer (2024) demonstrated a band continuing to push their sound while retaining the nervous energy that made Attack on Memory such a shock.
