Canadian experimental/comedy hip-hop band formed in the early 2000s by electronic music producer Tomas Jirku. G.I. Joe Killaz released its debut album in 2002, changing the name to The Killaz after Hasbro's "cease & desist" notice. It was a conceptual project depicting "Cobra Collective," a fictional terrorist group from the '80s animated TV series G.I. Joe as a rap trio: featuring Jirku as DJ Cobra Commander, MC Destro and the Baroness. The group debuted in October 2001 with Takin’ Over Tha World EP on the Canadian net-label Hasbro (which also released most of Jirku's early solo productions). The following year, the trio produced its self-titled album, GI Joe Killaz CD, published via "Cobra Records" private imprint, manufactured and distributed by a prominent Canadian independent label Hasbro. The record featured skillful Tomas Jirku's instrumental productions and copiously sampled the original "G.I. Joe" TV show.
