American singer. Sang backup for Elvis Presley in 1963-64.
She was part of a musical family that performed in New Orleans. Don Robey of Peacock Records heard her when she was seventeen and recorded her in 1952. Later she moved to the West Coast and recorded as a backup singer behind artists such as Dean Martin and Nat King Cole. In 1963 she signed with RCA under the name of Gwen Richard. Sister of Plas Johnson and Ray Johnson. Possibly same as Gwen Richardson.
