About

Hardedge Velibor Pedevski, is a sound designer based in New York. His experimental approach to sound, space, and structure is inspired and based on the fundamental principles of the Chicago's A.A.C.M. creative thinkers, especially their revolutionary multi-directional, non-progressive approach, and the use of silence as a musical element.

For many years, Pedevski had been extensively collaborating with many significant members of the A.A.C.M. (mostly as their representative), including Muhal Richard Abrams, Anthony Braxton, Henry Threadgill, Wadada Leo Smith, Roscoe Mitchell, Leroy Jenkins, The Art Ensemble Of Chicago, and George Lewis. In 1996, he became a co-founder of Braxton House label, and produced several albums by Anthony Braxton on it, such as Four Compositions (Quartet) 1995, Solo (Skopje) 1995, Sextet (Istanbul) 1996, Tentet (New York) 1996, Octet (New York) 1995, and Ensemble (New York) 1995. From 1993 to 2006, Velibor Pedevski had been teaching the music of Cecil Taylor, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Sam Rivers, Andrew Hill, Butch Morris, Anthony Braxton, Henry Threadgill, Wadada Lei Smith, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie, and other A.A.C.M. members at the Jazz Studies at the New School for Social Research in NYC.

In 2003, Pedevski formed his second record label, Hardedge, starting with a Henry Threadgill's Zooid vinyl, and subsequently releasing all of his solo and collaborative works through this recording company. Hardedge released eight live albums in duo with experimental cornetist Graham Haynes, documenting concerts at Braxton House-FM, Braxton House, Braxton House, Braxton House, 2005 Sarajevo Jazz Festival, and 2010 AkBank Jazz Festival in Istanbul. He also performed on electronics at Graham Haynes Presents Electric Church multimedia performance at Braxton House, with Haynes (cornet), James Hurt (keyboards) and Michelle Halsell (projection).

Some of Hardedge's recent projects include DarkMatterHalo power-trio with guitarists Brandon Ross and Doug Wieselman, which released three albums (as of 2019), with their fourth release planned for the end of 2020.
