He charted 36 times in the U.S. between 1904 and 1991, with two of them being #1 songs. Twenty-nine of the songs were co-written by songwriter Egbert Van Alstyne. Their first #1 hit came in 1904 with "Navajo" by Billy Murray. Their second, "Camp Meetin' Time" by Arthur Collins & Byron Harlan hit #1 in 1906. His first 33 songs all made it to the top 10. He co-wrote the song 'Rose Room', alongside Art Hickman.
