Henry McCullough

Northern Irish guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Born July 21, 1943, Portstewart, Northern Ireland, UK - Died June 14, 2016, Ballywindelland, Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, UK.
In the early 1960s, he became the lead guitarist of the showband [a=The Skyrockets (3)]. In 1964, he and three other Skyrockets members left and formed another showband, Gene & The Gents. In 1967, he moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland and formed the psychedelic band [a=The People (9)]. Later that year, the band moved to London, where the band's manager Chas Chandler changed the band's name to Eire Apparent. While the band was touring with The Animals in Canada, McCullough left the band returning to the UK, officially because of 'visa problems'. Back in Ireland, around May 1968, he joined the folk group Sweeney's Men for a few months. He returned to London around 1969 to work with Joe Cocker as a member of his backing band, The Grease Band. During his time with the band, he played with Spooky Tooth on their album The Last Puff. In December 1971, he was asked to join [a=Wings (2)]. He spent more than a year with the band, leaving on the eve of Band On The Run sessions in August 1973. In 1975, he joined The Frankie Miller Band spending two years with the band. In 1977, he temporarily joined Dr. Feelgood. He also did session work and played concerts with Joe Cocker, Roy Harper, Frankie Miller, Eric Burdon, Marianne Faithfull, Ronnie Lane, Pink Floyd, Leon Russell, [Jeff Greene], and Donovan among many others.
McCullough's spoken words "I don't know; I was really drunk at the time" can be heard on the Pink Floyd album "The Dark Side Of The Moon", at the end of the song "Money".
