    American composer, pianist and author.

    Born 1895 in Bar Harbor, Maine.
    Died 1995 (age of 99).
    Married to bandleader Meyer Davis & mother of soprano vocalist Ginia Davis.
    Sister-in-law of conductor Pierre Monteux.

    She started playing the piano at five and never stopped until she was 95. She later formed the Hilda Emery trio (with a violinist and cellist) before joining her husband-to-be's band. She wrote her and her husband's autobiography "In Time With The Music".
    She was the composer of the song "You Are the Reason for My Love Song", a song she composed in honor of Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. and his bride and was sung at their wedding in 1937. The song was later recorded that year by Frank Daily and His Orchestra.
