Spanish bass player, born on December 2, 1960 in Pamplona (Navarra, Spain). It has great recognition in the Jazz and Flamenco scene, but it also ventures into other popular and traditional European and Caribbean styles. His musical paths have led him to play alongside established musicians in the jazz world such as Tete Montoliu, Al Foster, Chucho Valdés, Jerry González. Outside the jazz scene, he has collaborated with flamenco musicians, Tomatito, Pepe Habichuela, Diego El Cigala or Enrique Morente, and has experimented with the Cuban sound, playing the double bass among others with Pancho Amat, Compay Segundo or Bebo Valdés and El Cigala in his work Black Tears. With Bebo Valdés he stars in a week of performances in New York and they record the album Bebo Valdés and Javier Colina live at the Village Vanguard. He has also made specific collaborations with Hank Jones, Pat Metheny, Brad Meldhau, Michel Camilo, Toumani Diabaté and Abdulah El Gourd among others. He has shared projects with Marc Miralta and Perico Sambeat, with Antonio Serrano, Argelia Fragoso, Agustín Carbonell “El Bola” and Santiago Auserón among others. He records with Silvia Pérez Cruz his most luminous project, "En la Imaginacion", songs of Cuban-jazz feeling by his trio and renewed with the voice of the wonderful Catalan singer. His penultimate work is with his own jazz quartet, a group with which he records an album published by the BBK foundation. And the most recent project is also shared with the great flamenco guitarist Josemi Carmona. This work, “De Cerca” has been recorded and published by the Universal label and has already been presented at different festivals (Madrid, Washington, New York, Barcelona, Chicago… etc)
