Swedish Baroque composer, born October 26, 1694 in the Court Assembly in Stockholm, died October 19, 1758 on the farm Lilla Haraldsmåla in Ryssby parish in Kalmar county Roman is often called the father of Swedish music, probably after Abraham Sahlstedt's memorial in 1767, where he was hailed as "Stamfader för Musiken i wårt land" (cit. after Ivarsdotter-Johnson: Musiken i Sverige: Johan Helmich Roman och hans tid, p. 26 ).
