    Lanterns Awake (formerly Lantern's Awake) was initially a solo drone/doom metal project founded by Alexandre Julien in the early months of 2010 in Montreal, Canada. The name "Lantern's Awake" had previously been used for a song title by one of Alexandre Julien's bands in 2008. After releasing two obscure drone/doom metal demos in the summer of 2010 through Mortification Records, the project evolved into a post-metal/atmospheric sludge metal band spanning the summer, fall and winter of 2010-2011. After a great deal of line-up changes, which included Ivan Byrne, Alex Luca, Guillaume Fleurent and Patrick McDowall, the band broke up in the first quarter of 2011.
