Marlon Lu'ree Williams, known as Marley Marl, was born on September 30, 1962, in Queens, New York City. He is a hip hop producer, DJ, and rapper, and the founding member of the Juice Crew All Stars. As the in-house producer for Cold Chillin' Records, he helped shape the sound of late 1980s East Coast hip hop. He pioneered sampling techniques and produced early tracks for Roxanne Shanté, MC Shan, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, and Kool G Rap. In later years, he also produced house music.
