ONCEIM

ONCEIM (l’Orchestre de Nouvelles Créations, Expérimentations et Improvisation Musicales) is a French new music ensemble, established in 2012 by a pianist Frédéric Blondy, and comprising over 30 European improvisers and members of prominent jazz (Orchestre National De Jazz, Umlaut Big Band), free jazz (Actuum, The Fish, Die Hochstapler), free improv (Hubbub, Zoor), and contemporary classical (Ircam, Orchestre National De France, Ensemble Intercontemporain) collectives.

Based around an innovative collective mode of playing in large ensemble, self-invented 'plastique du sonore' (plastic sound) approach, ONCEIM gives each soloist a major creative role, built on his singular virtuosity and original musical vocabulary. The orchestra has performed several pieces written by Stephen O'Malley, Eliane Radigue, Jérôme Noetinger, Arnaud Rivière, Sébastien Beliah and other notable composers.
