About

P!nk is the stage name of Alecia Beth Moore, a singer and songwriter born in 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. One of the most consistently successful and critically underrated pop-rock artists of the 21st century, she built a career on a combustible combination of powerful vocals, acrobatic live performance, emotional directness, and a populist but genuinely felt feminism that has sustained her commercial relevance across more than two decades. Having sung in Philadelphia nightclubs as a teenager and been briefly a member of R&B group Choice, she was signed to LaFace Records and released debut album *Can't Take Me Home* (2000), which produced R&B hits 'There You Go' and 'Most Girls.' A creative and commercial reinvention followed with *Missundaztood* (2001), produced by Linda Perry, which remains her commercial and artistic peak: a pop-rock record of emotional rawness that addressed her troubled childhood, her relationship with her parents, and her own contradictions, and produced global hits in 'Get the Party Started,' 'Don't Let Me Get Me,' and 'Family Portrait,' the latter a devastating portrait of parental divorce. *Try This* (2003), *I'm Not Dead* (2006), and *Funhouse* (2008) continued her string of hit-laden albums, the last particularly acclaimed for its raw, confessional examination of her marriage to motocross racer Carey Hart. 'So What,' 'Raise Your Glass,' 'Just Give Me a Reason' (with Nate Ruess), and 'What About Us' have been among her biggest subsequent hits. P!nk's live performances — featuring aerial acrobatics performed while singing live — have become defining spectacles of arena entertainment, and her *Beautiful Trauma* (2017), *Hurts 2B Human* (2019), and *TRUSTFALL* (2023) albums have maintained consistent commercial success. Her bluntness, physical presence, and refusal to present a sanitised pop persona have made her one of the more genuinely authentic figures in mainstream pop.
