Purity Ring

Purity Ring are a Canadian electronic pop duo formed in Edmonton, Alberta in 2010, comprising vocalist Megan James and producer Corin Roddick. Their music occupies a distinctive space between dream pop, witch house, and synth-pop — built on Roddick's intricate, bass-heavy production and James's childlike, ethereal vocal delivery, which creates an unsettling tension between fragility and darkness.

Shrines (2012), their debut on 4AD, was a fully realised statement — immediately acclaimed for its unique sonic palette, with tracks like Obedear and Fineshrine establishing a template of glossy, haunting electronic pop. The album earned them a devoted following and significant critical attention, positioning them as leading voices in the emerging witch house and dream pop crossover.

Another Eternity (2015) refined their sound with bigger production and more overt pop structures, delivering their most accessible record without sacrificing the strangeness that defined their early work. WOMB (2020), their third album, continued their evolution with even more expansive arrangements.
