About

German Eurodance act created in 1989 by Frankfurt-based producer duo Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti.
When Ancilotti and Münzing aka [a39474] and John Virgo Garrett III first released an early version of their song "The Power" under their alias Power Jam, they were facing a bunch of copyright infringements, as the big number of samples, they used on this version were unauthorized.
They made a second try, now incorporating Pittsburg based US-rapper Durron Butler aka Turbo B.. The resulting group was calle "Snap!" after a sequencer function and imitating the logo of Soul label Stax. Additionally to the three involved musicians, the band consisted additionally from numerous vocalists, which changed over the times. While Turbo B. was the face of the band, the vocalists stayed in the backgroud mainly. In chronologic order, some of the featuring vocalists were [a704153], Penny Ford, Thea Austin and Niki Haris to name a few.
After having a number of chart hits, the band changed its style from Eurohouse and Eurodance to Trance in 1993. As the rap parts disappeared from the songs, Turbo B. did no more have a function within the group and left the band. In 1996, the band went on a 4-year hiatus due to missing success.
In 2000, the band was reactivated and in 2002, Turbo B. returned to the band. The new era of Snap! was considerably less successful than the beginnings. Many of the released titles were in fact remixes and reworks of old works.
Snap! still exists, but mainly now as group of Penny Ford, rapper Benjamin Lowe aka Stoli and Turbo B.
