Chicago group, not to be confused with The Intentions, the Los Angeles group of the same name.
In 1971, People’s Gas employee and part-time music wheeler-dealer Art Dubois merged the Pharaohs—whose poached horn section and sensibilities would eventually comprise Earth, Wind and Fire—with the Intentions—a group of Kenwood teenagers. They recorded one single, recorded at Les Tucker’s modest Goldcoast studio. As the 45 was being pressed, the Intentions and Dubois parted ways over the wearing of stage uniforms socially, at which time Dubois halted all promotional efforts for the single. Art Dubois resumed his toils for People’s Gas, never to enter the music business again.
