American mastering engineer and radio disk jockey, born January 1, 1941, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; died March 6, 2010, Naples, Florida, at age 69.

After working as a disc jockey at radio stations in Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey, co-founded (with Wayne Wilfong) of Frankford/Wayne Recording Labs in 1966 in his parents' basement in Frankford, then shared space with Frankford/Wayne Recording Labs. He later expanded to New York in 1973 as Frankford/Wayne Recording Labs, and Miami, Florida, in 1976, as Frankford/Wayne Recording Labs. He helped create the "Philadelphia Sound" recordings. He had operations in Philadelphia and New York until 1986 and then worked out of New York for another seven years. Moved to Derby, Vermont, in 1990. In 1993, he retired from Frankford/Wayne, which his daughter, Tracy Lynn Steele, operated until its closure in 2008. He also was owner, chief engineer and manager of WMOO-FM/WIKE-AM in Derby, Vermont, from 1991 to 2001. Retired to Bonita Springs, Florida.

Steele mastered records by the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, and B.B. King. He received gold and platinum records for mastering "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang, "Move This" by Technotronic, "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul, and "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls.

Can be identified by mastering signature "TSS."
