Ungava

Canadian progressive rock band from the Charlevoix region north of Quebec City, active in the 2nd half of the 70s. Ungava (the name was taken from the Ungava Bay in Artic Quebec) was made of guitarist Andre Devito, percussionist and singer Jacques Marois and bassist Richard Fortin at first, then becoming a quintet with the additions of Martin Perron (keyboards) and sax/flutist Maurice Bouchard. Their sole self-titled album, released in 1977, featured a now-atypical hard prog that had its roots in folk and jazz rock (where as most of Quebec's prog movement had veered towards prog folk). Unfortunately this would be their sole album and it sank without a trace. Not much is known of the musicians' later career.
